Banker's Academy Deploys Training Program To Meet NCUA Financial Literacy Requirements

March 03, 2011

Edcomm Banker's Academy deploys comprehensive training program to meet recent National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) financial literacy requirements.

Edcomm Banker's Academy has recently deployed training to meet financial literacy requirements recently released by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). With 24+ years of experience serving the industry, Banker's Academy quickly assessed the requirements and packaged a course using existing content from its over 5,000 courses that will ensure that credit union directors are well equipped with the necessary training and knowledge required by the NCUA.

In February 2011, the NCUA released a Letter to Credit Unions, No. 11-FCU-02, detailing specific financial literacy requirements for Federal Credit Union (FCU) directors which will take effect on July 27, 2011. According to the Letter, Credit Union directors should have a base level of financial skills consistent with the size and complexity of the credit union operation they serve, including the ability to analyze a credit union's balance sheet and understand specific financial activities that their credit union takes part in, as well as a complete knowledge of all risks. NCUA examiners will look for evidence of comprehensive financial training during their inspections.

Edcomm Banker's Academy's comprehensive financial literacy training program teaches credit union employees the knowledge and skills they need to meet NCUA requirements and satisfy examiners. Delivered in an interactive, highly-participatory format, the program will cover different types of risks including credit, interest rate, market, reputational compliance, etc. Participants will also learn how to evaluate and understand the portions of balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, how to understand basic accounting principles, and much more.

In addition to this program, Banker's Academy offers many more courses for credit unions that cover areas such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti Money Laundering (AML), ATM operations, branch security, business writing, communication, compliance, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Elder Financial Abuse, ethics, fraud prevention, Human Resources (HR) compliance, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), information security, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), member sales, member service, risk management, performance management, leadership, consumer lending, and more.
