Bartlett school, Elgin church help students, orphanage in Ghana

February 16, 2015

Two ongoing fundraising projects at a Bartlett elementary school and an Elgin church will help feed 300 schoolchildren in Ghana and support an orphanage in that West African nation. "Our goal is to be able to raise funds to pay for a trimester worth of lunches for the school," said James Reed, fifth-grade gifted program teacher at Sycamore Trails Elementary School spearheading the project. Reed, 40, of Elgin, also is leading the effort to fund an orphanage built through his charity -- Two Pennies Ministry.
