Bears fire GM Emery, coach Trestman | |

December 30, 2014 The dysfunction at Halas Hall that led to Monday's mass firings began before the regular season even started. A litany of malfunctions, combined with a losing record, led to Bears chairman George McCaskey pulling the plug on the inept football operation and removing general manager Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman the day after the team completed a 5-11 season, its worst in 10 years. The search for successors will begin immediately and popular names such as Chicago-area native Mike Shanahan and fired New York Jets coach Rex Ryan (a Stevenson High School grad) have been mentioned prominently.
