Belmont Financial Group Attends International Fraud Conference In Hong Kong | |

October 17, 2015 Andrew King (Belmont Financial Group) Speaks At International Fraud Conference In Hong Kong. Andrew King, Senior Analyst at Belmont Financial Group, recently participated in a discussion at a Fraud, Asset Tracing & Recovery conference in Hong Kong, regarding the location and recovery of proceeds of fraud and corruption into key offshore jurisdictions. Andrew King spoke alongside a number of leading offshore financiers and lawyers about the information that can be obtained from public sources in asset tracing cases, how to navigate confidentiality legislation and the process of freezing, confiscating and recovering proceeds from fraud. The conversation was particularly topical following the recent FIFA scandal regarding misappropriation of funds, thought to have been used to influence decisions in world football. Mr. King commented, "(FIFA President) Sepp Blatter and (former) President Thabo Mbeki felt they were above the law, that they could hide their fraudulent activity from the world. The corruption charges filed against them, and 14 others, prove they were wrong. The misappropriated funds have been recovered, and we as an industry strive to ensure justice is served. We must work exceptionally hard to guarantee we continue to triumph over fraudulent activity." The panel discussion was part of a 2-day conference discussing innovative strategies in an era of global fraud, with a particular focus on Asia.
