Buffalo Grove man gets life sentence in kidnap-torture plot | |

December 12, 2014 A Buffalo Grove man will spend the rest of his life in prison for plotting to kidnap and kill a suburban businessman using a torture chamber he and an accomplice set up for the purpose. The crimes committed by Steven Mandell, a former Chicago policeman and onetime death row inmate, "were evil and show a complete disregard for human life," U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve said.
