Canadian Mortgage Industry Supports At-Risk Youth - A Gala Night to Remember

May 04, 2017

Canadian Mortgage Industry professionals generously gave $22,000 to Kares.ca (Kids at Risk Embracing Success), a new national giving initiative that supports services and programs for youth at risk across Canada.

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Mortgage Industry rallied together in a big way this past Wednesday evening to support at-risk youth across the country by donating to Kares.ca.

Mortgage brokers, lenders and suppliers generously raised more than $22,000 for this worthy cause at the Canadian Mortgage Brokers Association (CMBA) Ontario annual gala.

Following a moving presentation from Frances Hinojosa and Barbara Cook, Kares.ca founding committee members, True Path Law kicked off gala attendee generosity by stepping on stage and offering a substantial donation.

"It was deeply moving," says Hinojosa. "We didn't expect such a large flood of giving in one evening. It's incredible the enormous impact our industry can have when we come together."

Far too often, at-risk youth between 16 and 24 fall through the cracks across the country.

"By supporting Kares.ca programs and services that help at-risk youth reach their potential, we're not only giving the gift of a better future, but we're also offering a brighter future for both our local communities and Canada as a whole," says Meryll Dreyer, Co-Founder of Kares.ca

Kares.ca thanks the following mortgage industry partners for their generous donations:
• B2B Bank
• Broker Financial Group
• Canadian Lending Network
• Coalition of Independent Mortgage Brokers
• CYR Funding Inc
• Dominion Lending Centres The Mortgage Source
• Equitable Bank
• First National
• FNF Canada
• Home Trust
• Manulife Bank

About Kares.ca - Donate Now
KARES (Kids at Risk Embracing Success) is a national giving program for the Canadian mortgage industry focused on youth between the ages of 16 and 24. During the transitional period from teenager to adulthood, this at-risk demographic often slips through the cracks and becomes forgotten. More prone to falling into drug addiction, homelessness and abuse, these young adults desperately need attention and support. By helping kids at a critical time in their lives through Education, Work Skills, Financial literacy, Housing and mental health services, Kares.ca hopes to make a substantial and sustained positive change in their lives to help build a brighter future.

Our Goal
We aim to have 2,500 mortgage industry professionals contributing $25 each per month towards a brighter future for youth 16-24 across Canada. Together, we can make a substantial difference.
