Dalton Financial hold book donation event for improving childrens' education in Africa

December 18, 2015

Dalton Financial, the Tokyo-based asset and wealth management firm, has publicised that they are to hold a book donation drive at its offices in aid of improving education facilities in Cambodia.

Dalton Financial organised a book donation drive from 1 - 18 December at their offices in Tokyo. This book donation drive was conducted for a Cambodian educational charity which is aiming to build three new libraries in the country, allowing poorer students to have access to the libraries for free.

The educational woes of Cambodia are well documented. Ever since the reign of Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge movement, Cambodia has been playing catch-up with the majority of the rest of the world in regards to education and social inclusion.

Schools are few and far between, and are in serious need of investment to improve facilities. Also, access to those schools are limited as the roads are very difficult to travel on due to their poor condition.

The fundamental aim of the donation event is to supply books to charities so that when the libraries are built, they would have a large enough amount and variety in order to sufficiently provide children with a chance at educating themselves. Dalton staff members have pledged to donate a wide array of books from their homes, ranging from children's stories to encyclopaedias.

Dalton Financial have also pledged to donate $10 for every book donated towards the cause.
