January 25, 2011 The Illinois General Assembly's vote to abolish capital punishment left death penalty opponents cheering and death row inmates anxious as they await Gov. Pat Quinn's signature which could result in a commutation of their sentences. However, defendants awaiting trial on capital murder charges during this interim period find themselves in limbo.
