Des Plaines River matches record high, crest expected at 7 p.m.

Even trying to move about in Des Plaines was difficult Friday morning because of street flooding. As of 10:45 a.m., the river was at 10.9 feet, matching its all-time high. The crest prediction was 11 feet. About 20 homes had been evacuated and fire department personnel were in the process of evacuating more people from Big Bend Drive, Hawthorne Lane, Hawthorne Terrace and Junior Terrace. Another...
