Elgin's northwest side no longer a ‘food desert' | |

December 14, 2014 Until Butera Market opened on Elgin's northwest side, local residents had to drive at least two miles to find a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. That all changed in the past week, with Butera's soft opening Dec. 5 followed by an official opening Wednesday. "My parents were super excited," resident Deidre Snelson Plavsicshe said.
