Elk Grove 'filter lady' wins major environmental award | |

September 24, 2013 An Elk Grove Village woman has received one of the world's most prestigious environmental awards, the Energy Globe Award, for her work creating sustainable water filter factories in countries like Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Lisa Ballantine, who now lives mostly in the Dominician Republic, says she is thrilled by the difference the filters have made.
