September 22, 2014 While summer ended nearly spot-on as far as average temperature goes, it probably didn't seem that way because of a soggy atmosphere and overcast skies that frequently lurked. "What was lacking this year were the warm spells," Tom Skilling said. The good news? Forecasters say the winter ahead won't be nearly as bad as the last one.
