Historic environmental settlement includes West Chicago sites | |

April 04, 2014 The federal government on Thursday reached a $5.15 billion settlement with Anadarko Petroleum Corp., the largest ever for environmental contamination, to settle claims related to the cleanup of thousands of sites — including some in West Chicago — tainted with hazardous chemicals for decades. “Just because you know something’s bad, it’s happening and it’s not right, doesn’t mean you already get justice,” said Rich Kassanits, a West Chicago resident. “But it’s nice to get justice, and some money."
