The Houston Futures Exchange announced today that it will along with two other commodities exchanges within the US jointly provide a series of lectures on commodity and derivatives trading at universities around the country in the school year starting Jan, 2012. This is a part of a team effort to promote general knowledge of commodity and derivatives trading through higher studies.

The main goal with this program is to offer undergraduate students a basic understanding of commodity and derivatives trading as well as an opportunity to learn more about personal finance. The program will consist of lectures on the fundamental structure of Commodity, Futures, Options and other Derivatives trading instruments, an outline of both soft and hard commodity markets, fund management and risk/reward projections.

Lecturers are to be held by the academics that have expert knowledge of the commodity futures market globally and the experienced officials of at least three major commodity exchanges in the US, in order to achieve balance between a theoretical and practical standpoint.
