Less money, more bills loom for cash-strapped Illinois | |

January 03, 2015 Now that the state's income tax has dropped, leaving taxpayers with fatter wallets at the start of the new year, lawmakers and Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner face a tough question. Now what? As income tax revenue declines, Illinois had more than $6 billion in unpaid bills as of mid-December and faces a $2 billion deficit in the budget year that ends June 30.
