Ling Capital Senior Portfolio Managers pioneer Asset Appreciation Donation program

November 15, 2015

James Man and Michael Knight, Senior Portfolio Managers at Ling Capital in Tokyo, Japan, have initiated a philanthropic program in which individual investors donate appreciated assets to charitable foundations of their choice.

James and Michael have kindly donated USD $25,000 worth of shares each from their personal portfolios, with a minimum 20% appreciation from inception, to UNICEF Japan. "We at Ling are encouraging our portfolio managers and clients alike to join in the momentum to start a new trend that would have mid- to high net worth individuals donating portions of their over-achieving portfolios to notable causes." James Man stated.

"We feel that this innovative approach to charitable giving could start a revolution in the asset and wealth management industry." He concluded. Michael Knight added "James and I volunteered to donate a portion of our own portfolios to kick-start this campaign. I am also encouraging my client base to follow suit, and of course any donations from the public would be greatly appreciated."
