Metra asks for 68 percent fare hike over 10 years | |

October 09, 2014 Metra riders will see a major fare hike next year with yearly increases to follow if agency leaders approve. Increases would average 10.8 percent the first year and 68 percent over the decade. In exchange, the commuter railroad promises better, on-time service by purchasing new locomotives and train cars and rehabbing its current fleet.
