Pulitzer Prize-winning Reporter Bob Woodward, Apple Marketing Expert Headline AmeriQuest Symposium

May 02, 2013

Full rosters of speakers and sessions bring business leaders together to explore issues impacting their companies and define tools for success at the 10th annual event.

Declaring that American media coverage has become too partisan and promoting the need for more in-depth reporting, keynote speaker Bob Woodward kicked off the opening of the 10th annual AmeriQuest Symposium, which brings together industry experts and thought leaders to share business-building ideas and gain a new perspective on their industry. The Symposium took place in Orlando April 17-19.

"We believe the AmeriQuest Symposium is the premier platform for industry leaders to explore the issues impacting their businesses," said Doug Clark, President and CEO of AmeriQuest Business Services, a business process outsourcing company. "With speakers of the caliber of Bob Woodward, we help them define the solutions and give them the tools they need for success."

Author and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who broke the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon, Woodward said that Americans should demand more investigative news reporting to help educate the public and fight secrecy within the government. He also shared his take on some of today's most pressing issues.

Carmine Gallo, the second keynote of the day and communications expert, explained to the audience how Apple's founder Steve Jobs used his talents to captivate, excite, and motivate millions of people around the world. "The best way to do this is by expressing your passion, putting forth your vision, creatively connect ideas, creating 'insanely' great experiences, and mastering the message," Gallo said. "Marketers should try to identify what three most important messages are needed to get the value of their business across to customers," Gallo said.

Göran Nyberg, Volvo's President of North American Sales & Marketing, addressed the Symposium on how the core values of quality, safety and environmental care will impact the transportation industry into the future. He explained how the fuel efficiency of new trucks and the lower maintenance costs are spurring fleet owners to remarket their vehicles after just a few years. "A new truck getting just one or two more miles per gallon requiring minimal maintenance can save a fleet tens of thousands of dollars over the first two years" he said.

The second day of the Symposium featured keynote speaker Ryan Estis, a business performance expert who challenged conventional thinking on corporate culture, communication, client acquisition, and brand ambassadorship. His speech helped prepare business leaders in attendance to thrive in the competitive, hyper-connected business environment that has become the new normal.

The roster of AmeriQuest Symposium speakers also included Dan North, Chief Economist for Euler Hermes ACI, who addressed the economic obstacles and opportunities that businesses will face this year and how to prepare for the future. Charles H. Bernier, CPU, president and CEO of ECBM, addressed the group of leaders about upcoming changes in the healthcare industry and how it will affect businesses.

Among the other speakers were Jeff Kaplan of THINKstrategies, who presented a session on how businesses can capitalize on cloud computing, Software-as-a-Service, and outsourcing trends. Mark Lampert, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Daimler Trucks North America, shared insights into the current truck market, with an update on equipment and technology, with a look at what's ahead. And Alexsander Stewart, Managing Director of Stifel Investment Banking, focused on how the logistics industry can drive customer satisfaction through innovation and logistical specialization.

An Industry Panel incorporating leaders of the nation's trucking companies, led by Terry Young, President of Advantage Truck Leasing, a NationaLease Member, rounded out the agenda. An evening tradeshow reception was also held.
