Storm watch ends; thousands without power after storm | |

September 05, 2014 More than 105,000 customers were without power after a strong storm whipped through the suburbs Friday afternoon. About 75,000 customers were without power in Cook County, along with more than 22,000 customers in Kane County and more than 8,000 customers in Lake County, according to ComEd. A severe thunderstorm watch originally scheduled to continue until 9 p.m. has been canceled, according to the National Weather Service.
