Why do Illinois Republicans look to Indiana's Daniels?

Trying to convince voters they can help fix Illinois' deep fiscal woes, most of the Republican candidates for governor often look one state to the east and cite as a role model a man former President George W. Bush nicknamed "The Blade." Winnetka business man Bruce Rauner in particular has called former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels "the best governor in the country," and state Sens. Kirk Dillard of Hinsdale and Bill Brady of Bloomington bring him up as an example, too.
