Work begins on Elgin-O'Hare Western Access

October 30, 2013

Gov. Pat Quinn and dignitaries from across DuPage County gathered Tuesday morning at the Itasca intersection of Park Road and Thorndale Avenue to break ground on and introduce the Elgin O'Hare Western Access Project. When complete in 2025, the $3.4 billion project is expected to provide the long sought after western access to O'Hare International Airport while also shaving minutes off commutes and likely, dollars at the gas pump for those who drive it daily. In total, 17 miles of new tollways and 15 new or improved interchanges highlight the plan. But not everyone is overjoyed.
