December 04, 2014 Several suburban home rule communities have real estate transfer taxes that are intended to lift some of the tax burden from property owners. However, despite increases in recent years, most municipalities are significantly underestimating transfer tax revenues, which isn't having the desired effect of reducing other tax levies.
