Sandwich maker honored for apprehending Elk Grove robber | |

February 05, 2015 Sam Watkins was cleaning up and getting ready to close the Jersey Mike's sandwich shop in Elk Grove Village when he heard a voice in the back of the shop, threatening to shoot if he didn't turn over money from the store's safe. Watkins was recently awarded a certificate by the police department for attacking the robber, subduing him and holding him until police arrived.
