State trooper from Vernon Hills killed in I-294 crash | |

March 29, 2013 An Illinois State trooper was killed in an early morning crash on the Tri-State Tollway, just south of Willow Road, authorities said. Trooper James Sauter, 28, of Vernon Hills, was either parked on the side of the tollway or leaving the shoulder when his patrol vehicle was struck from behind by a semitrailer truck.
